External rendering and render repairs
Meols is coastal and low lying, and the sea air is the defining factor for anything on the outside of a building here. Salt attacks a painted render surface and it attacks any ferrous fixing through it, so an old fixing rusts and opens a crack from the inside out. Render on the exposed side wants checking more often than the same render would inland, and small repairs done early are a fraction of the wall they prevent.
K Rend and silicone render
Through coloured systems make particular sense in this position, because the colour is in the material and there is no paint film for salt to get under. The condition of what is already on the wall decides whether it is worth doing, so that gets checked first.
Plastering and skimming
Bungalows and detached houses, mostly board inside, mostly a question of bringing surfaces back flat rather than restoring anything.
Ceilings
A bungalow ceiling has the roof directly above it, so ceiling work here runs into insulation and ventilation more often than it does in a house. Better looked at as one job.

Questions from Meols
Why does paint keep coming off my render?
Near the coast there are usually two reasons at once. Salt works under the paint film and lifts it, and moisture in the render behind pushes it off from the inside. Repainting treats neither. What matters is whether the render underneath is sound and dry, which is a tap test and a look rather than a guess.
Is there any finish that lasts out here?
Nothing is permanent on a wall facing the Irish Sea, but a through coloured system on a sound substrate removes the paint film, which is the layer that fails first. That is the honest version: it changes the maintenance from repainting to inspecting.
